Westmead Hospital | Westmead NSW

Westmead Hospital’s $1 billion-plus redevelopment works commenced in 2017 with significant upgrades to the existing Hospital providing a total of 95,559 square metres of space with an all-encompassing range of adult and paediatric services, including emergency, pharmacy, imaging, state-of-the-art operating suites and multiple in-patient units.

It will also include a floor and a half of dedicated University of Sydney space, rooftop helipad facility and underground car parking spaces.  The works will establish the Western-Sydney hospital as a state-of-the-art 14-storey high building, the tallest hospital in Australia following the new design trend towards vertical hospital design.

Collaborating with nationally acclaimed electrical contractor Heyday5, CMS was able to deliver cutting-edge in-floor services and cable management solutions to this significant project.

CMS Apollo, Titan, Century and Madera floorboxes were used in this project to provide a variety of surface finishes including tile, carpet and concrete as well as access to power, data & AV services throughout the Hospital.  Low-profile 60mm floorboxes eliminated the need for the slab to be cut and CMS floorbox lid solutions were well suited for the public areas requiring terrazzo tiles.

Floor-to-ceiling Power Poles delivered power & cable management in the wards and theatre rooms while providing better space utilisation for the hospital’s machinery requirements. TRAX umbilicals and power poles were also fitted into nurse’s workstations to help provide convenient access to power while keeping cables tidy and preventing trip hazards.
